Role and Responsibilities of a Safety Officer
Carrying out inspections (workplace, work environment and work equipments). Ensuring workers are complying with safety rules. Ensuring health and safety policy and plan is being followed/implemented at the worksite. Providing trainings (Tool box Talk, Safety induction training, job specific training, emergency training etc.). Ensuring adequate supervision is provided for high risk work activities. Issuing and authorizing work permit system. Developing and communicating SSOW (safe system of work) & SOP (safe operating procedure). Communicating important health and safety information. Making site observation reports and submitting it to management or departmental manager. Listening to workers health and safety concerns and investigating them. Investigating accidents and near misses. Not allowing unsafe actions/practices to happen on worksite Developing and implementing general site safety rules.
